About Creating Solutions

Who We Are :
Creating Solutions is a project of the Community Intiative Funds of The San Francisco Foundation. Creating Solutions was established in 2005 as the entity to publish, Disability Solutions, established in 1995. Creating Solutions manages a variety of projects, locally in Oregon, and those with a national and international scope such as Disability Solutions and The Down Syndrome Autism Information Center.

We will accomplish our mission by:
- Researching best practice and cutting edge information.
- Disseminating information that is tangible and as easy-to-use as possible.
- Creating & sharing strategies and tools to promote independence for people with developmental disabilities regardless of ability.
- Sharing systems and tools to promote independence for people with developmental disabilities regardless of ability.
- Seeking out and sharing strategies, techniques, and tools that enhance the quest for an enviable life for people with developmental disabilities, regardless of ability.
- Researching and enhancing the information and tolls available to families of children with the dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and Autistic spectrum disorder.

Creating Solutions' Belief Statements:
- We believe that people with developmental disabilities are entitled to create enviable lives.
- We believe that the dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and autism is under served. People with this dual diagnosis and their families deserve to create and lead enviable lives.
- We are committed to using our expertise and resources to promote the creation of enviable lives for people wit developmental disabilities of all ages, and in any living environment.
- We believe in disseminating information regarding best practice, current research, and effective tools in the most tangible, easy-to-implement, and easy-to-understand methods possible.
- We believe that an enviable life means using the least invasive support mechanisms that promote independence and informed choices.
- We believe that informed choices create "enviable lives."
- We believe in teaching the skills that create truly informed choices.
